Today is my last day in the working world for....I don't know how long. I am going to join the ranks of the stay at home moms.
I am going to try and improve my cooking skills, sell my house, make sure my son stays on track developmentally and continue to encourage my extremely shy dog to come out of her shell.
No longer will I answer the phone "this is Susan in so and so's office"...I am now just going to be Mrs. B - who I still think of as my mother-in-law. I am Mrs. B at the grocery store, at the cleaners and at the doctor's office.
No more Blackberry, no more votes to watch, no more angry constituent phone calls, no more people asking me for money. No more IDs, metal detectors, suspicious substances, emergency evacuations, or black suburbans in my parking garage. No more mail smelling like chemicals from being screened, and no longer will I have the possibility of running into a celebrity or the chief justice of the supreme court in the hallway.
I will miss the people I work with the most. The witty comments, the practical jokes played on each other, the fun lunches out.
Life moves on and so mine is moving into a new phase - a new adventure.
I get to spend my days with someone who smiles at me every morning no matter what's going on in the world. Where bottles are the best, the fan is our interesting friend and shoes are not necessary.

I can read between the lines and plainly see your cry for help.
You need an ATV.

Welcome to the crazy, insane life of stay at home moms. (Which, is really a myth...you'll soon learn, we don't ever just stay at home!)I'm always here, with a ear to listen!
