This week, while waiting at a merchant's counter for them to ring me up, the clerk asks me, "So, how are you enjoying your day off?". I wasn't quite sure how to take this. Did I look like someone so out of sorts that it was clear that I don't normally spend the day with my son? That I must have a job at a desk somewhere?
I replied that I was having a permanent day off. However, I don't think most people think of their day off as being filled with dirty diapers, spit up and drool on their shirt and washing bottles.

I think it is a sad commentary on the world we live in when a woman who is not employed outside of the home is considered unusual. Actually, it's worse than unusual - it's almost as if something is wrong with her - like she is lazy or something.
I have been asked on many occasions "Why don't you make your wife get a job?" !!!
