It's that time of the year again. That time when my WH leaves me for five days to go to a place I probably wouldn't want to spend time in, to get really muddy and spend time fixing and re-fixing his machine and others' machines as they break during a trek that ultimately leads them to....right back where they started.
So during his respite from reality, which has occurred annually for the past five years, I have found various ways to amuse myself. In years past, this included going out for drinks with people at my office and taking my good old time getting home at night. Not cooking. Getting a massage. Taking long naps on the weekends (okay - before I had a baby, I did that pretty regularly all the time).
But now, with a baby, this is a completely different proposition. I now have a new found respect for the other wives (all with more children than I have) who cheerfully send their husbands off on this trip with warm wishes for a wonderful time, all the while knowing that they are in store for the 24 hour-a-day deluge that is taking care of children by yourself.
I must be completely forthcoming here, though, and fess up as to how I plan to make it through this year's trip....I had my mother come to town. So we will have five days of shopping, going out to lunch and renting really girly movies. The bonus is that my mother actually can't get enough of OBB so that in itself gives me a break.
So my method of distracting myself during this trip continues, it just takes on a slightly different form.

Ahhh!! Mom time! Sounds great! We're knee deep in daily trips to the ball park, four hrs every night, band concerts, year end testing and wrapping up school, bridal shower planning, and in my spare time healing from my surgery!
When is our vacation????
Email me! I don't have your email and you would enjoy the wife emails with updates from the husbands!
oooo! I would enjoy that. I don't have your email either. Mine is my first name, then "J" then my last name (all together without any periods) at yahoo.com. Is that cryptic enough for you?
ok, i'll see if I figured it out! mine is my first name underscore last name at yahoo.
Believe me, I am less than "cheerful" about being alone with 3 boys for 5 days. I am glad he goes on the the trip and has fun, but I wish it was closer to home. 17 hours away is very far!
I will add your email to my list when updating everyone else. I emailed to an Address that Lar had for Your Hubby but I was not sure if it was a recent one. I will be glad when Sunday night comes. Have a good week!
ok, i'll admit it -- i miss him. however, i'm just really glad he's getting away for some fun. i think he really deserves it right now...
Almost over! everyone survive?? Looks like the guys had a great time, too bad they only get together once a year!
Now when is OUR vacation girls?
Just need to get mom to the airport, hope the plane takes off (the remnants of TS Barry are making it very rainy and windy here today) and come home and wait for daddy to get here!
