Valentine's Day in Kindergarten

On Tuesday, I joined OBB's class for their Valentine's Day party.  I made 4 cakes (two circles and two squares) at the request of Mrs. K and watched her turn it into a teachable moment.

She cut the circles in half, turned the square on it side like a diamond and proceeded to make two heart cakes - one for the boys to decorate and one for the girls.

I was in charge of the girls table and she was in charge of the boys.

As you can see, the girls really got into the decorating.  The boys were a little more laid back about it.

Here is the girls final product.  Let's just say that when you bit into it, it had a certain crunchiness to it.

And here's the boys version -  a little easier to swallow.

And here's what happenend when I stood at the front of the class with my camera and asked everyone to say "cheese"!
