Trip to Disney - Day 1

We're back!! Have you missed us? Wondering where we've been? Well, we have lots to fill you in on!

We just returned from a wonderful trip to Walt Disney World. We spent four days and three nights visiting all of our favorite Disney friends. Want to hear all about it? In the words of Peter Pan, here we gooooo!

We got up in the middle of the night and headed for Disney on a 6:30 a.m. flight to Orlando. This was OBB and Baby Girl's first airplane ride and they were more than a little excited.

Here's OBB meeting the pilots...

And here's Baby Girl enjoying her window seat.

OBB was a happy camper, taking everything in.

Here he is on the Magical Express Bus as we passed under the Walt Disney World sign at the park.

We stopped briefly at our hotel to pick up our stroller (which was a life-saver!) and then hopped on the monorail to the park.

Here we are entering the Magic Kingdom (about 10:30 a.m.).

We headed straight for It's a Small World.

Then we got silly on the Tea Cups...

We had lunch at Tony's Town Square Restaurant (themed after the Italian restaurant in Lady and the Tramp) and then changed into some cooler clothes because it was almost 80 degrees that afternoon!

Baby Girl loved the Carousel - she called her horse Max (from Tangled). There were lots of people in the park, but we never waited more than 5 minutes to get on a ride. We got Fast Passes for a couple of rides with longer waits.

Baby Girl even got to drive one of the cars at the Tommorrowland Speedway. Her brother, on the other hand was less than thrilled with the steering on his car.

After a full day at the Magic Kingdom, we headed to our room to check it out before dinner. We stayed at Bay Lake Tower which is next door to the Contemporary Hotel in the Magic Kingdom. We chose it because they offer one bedroom villas with three beds, two bathrooms and a little extra private space for mom and dad so that we could stay up and watch TV or relax after the kids went to bed.

It is connected by a walkway to the Contemporary Hotel so that you can hop on the monorail or you can actually walk to the Magic Kingdom on a little pathway. We used the pathway to walk home from the Magic Kingdom later that night so that we didn't have to wait in the monorail lines when they are so busy as the park is closing.

Our villa was on the 9th floor. We had a great view of the Magic Kingdom and Cinderella's castle (you can see it just above the kids heads - this is the window in our room).

This was the view from our balcony (off the master bedroom). You can see the monorail running into the Contemporary Hotel, the Grand Floridian off to the left and Cinderella's Castle on the right.

For dinner, we headed to Chef Mickey's where the kids got to catch up with Goofy, Pluto and Minnie Mouse.

After dinner, we headed back to the Magic Kingdom for some more rides and to meet some princesses! Baby Girl just ran right up and hugged each princess. Here she is with Cinderella.

Here are the kids with Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

And here they are with Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty.

After the princesses, we got our family picture with Minnie and Mickey! A perfect way to end the first day of our trip.
