That's right. We are now officially a Nielsen Family. With May Sweeps upon us, we've been sent our first diaries to keep and mail in with our TV viewing habits. Our "week" starts on May 19th. I'll be sure to update you on how it's going.
But wait - I know what you're thinking....a diary? I thought it was a little box attached to your TV. Well apparently that's only for people in major markets and since we're in a mid-size market, we don't get one. But I firmly believe that the onerousness (is that a word?) of our task (filling out the diary for evey minute of the day the TV is on) makes our contribution that much more important. How many people will actually go through with that? So if we do it, our impact on what shows make it and don't will be THAT much more powerful, right? Yes, I promise to use my new found power for good. And I will happily entertain your requests for shows that we could put into our rotation. Oh, and the cash? Well they sent us 5 crisp dollar bills for our trouble. Not sure what that will work out to on a per hour basis, but I'm guessing it's not something you do for the money.
