To Grandmother's house we go!
OBB (our brilliant baby) is off to Maine this afternoon for the first time! Of course, we will be going with him, along with our emotionally disturbed dog.
I am really excited about going north. For the last three years, whenever we go to Maine for Thanksgiving there has been snow and it usually appears the morning after we arrive - as if on cue.
So here are my top 10 reasons I'm excited to go to Maine:
10. Introduce the baby to all of his northern relatives! While he's already met his Nana and Pop, he hasn't met anyone else in the clan.
9. Introduce the baby to all of his daddy's friends who already have children and may now look at us differently - like - oh, now you see what we've been going through, don't you?
8. For four days, be part of a small town where everyone knows your car, your life history and where in some restaurants, you don't even have to order. They just know what you want.
7. Moose. I've never seen a moose on my trips to Maine, but there's always a first time for everything....and a better possibility of seeing one in Maine than where I live.
6. A good dose of cold air. Somehow when you're someplace where it's really cold, it just feels more like the holidays.
5. Day after Thanksgiving shopping with the girls. Each year, I usually get to go shopping with my three sisters-in-law on the shopping day of days. This is a great time to catch up and share stories.
4. Mom's carrot cake. Rob's mom makes a carrot cake that is to die for. Enough said.
3. Karen Mathews' sweet potato casserole. This is one of my favorite dishes that I look forward to every year at Thanksgiving. It has the crunchy pecan-cinnamon top that is cooked just enough to set off the taste of the sweet potatoes lingering below. Yum!
2. Marden's - I think this store is fabulous. Every year I am in Maine for the holidays I go and every time I go, I find something I didn't know I needed....and it's always at a great price.
1. The New Dunkin Donuts in North Berwick. I've heard that there's a new Dunkin Donuts in North Berwick...no longer we will have to travel to South Berwick to enjoy their tasty delights. We can practically walk there!

Big A is going to yell at us for encouraging Andy to move.
I am very excited to see you guys and the brilliant baby- hopefully we'll have time to get together. I am actually not working on Friday night this year. Maybe we should have a get together with the Maine/New Hampshire friends. Of course there is one less now then there used to be.
Oh yes, let's! friday night works for us! Anyone want to come over!
We need cell numbers, call us!
nah, we were sick of him.

10. he'll never be the same. it was nice to know you, charlie.
9. he'll never be the same. it was nice to know you, charlie.
8. ...and there always glad you came. ask the woman across the street about the time when three guys trashed the house across the street.
7. I've seen 4 moose in my life. All in NH.
6. It was 65 here today. I'm not some pansy who hates the cold either. I just hated how NH has only one month of summer.
5. Yay. Sounds fun.
4. Mmmm. It is the best.
3. I've never had that before, probably because Karen hates me.
2. I tried to explain Marden's to someone at work the other day. There's no explaining Marden's though. You have to live it.
1. You can never have too many Dunkin' Starnuts.
so i saw dan saturday night, but you guys were missing from the tree lighting. and seems the d.d. is not yet in operation - quite the disappointment
