Finding Your Feet

This week, my son discovered his feet. This may not seem like a big deal to some, but it means that every time he is placed on his back, his feet go straight up in the air, only to be grabbed by his hands and jammed in his mouth…whether he’s wearing socks or not. (I can ‘t believe that a mouthful of sock tastes very good, but perhaps if you’re teething, it does the trick). This also means that I have developed a heightened awareness to where his feet are (ie: how clean the floor is) because I now know they will end up in his mouth. Before, I could pretty much control what went in his mouth. Well those days are over. His new favorite is grabbing the dog’s fur (that’s his way of petting her), getting a big clump of it in his hand and stuffing it in his mouth. Gross I know, but I think it means he will not have any pet allergies when he gets older – or at least that what I say to make myself feel better.

It’s probably good that most of us can’t remember anything before about 2 or 3 years old because discovering your feet has to be pretty startling. Where did THESE come from? Of course, it doesn’t even rank up there with say – being born. That would really mess you up if you could remember that.

Ethan told me once that he could remember being in my belly. He said it was dark in there, and a little scary. I just asked him if he remembered now, and he said no. That other comment was a few years ago. I wouldn't worry about the dog- I agree with your allergy theory.

The dog will remember. The dog remembers everything.

She is computerless until the end of October. After we get settled in the new place I am sure she will have lots of updating to do.
