Selling your house is no fun. While our experience is not entirely complete, the "finding the buyer" part has been accomplished. So now that the buyer has been identified, I feel I can reflect on the many different people who came through my house. There was one particular home buyer who takes the cake...
One sunny afternoon, my phone rings and its a realtor. "I would like to show your home today" - ok, great! I think to myself. "When would you like to see it?" I say. "How about right now? I'm in your parking lot with my client." Of course I'm in the middle of about three things at that point, but a buyer is a buyer so I graciously tell them that's fine. I don't even have time to run around the house and turn all the lights on before they're knocking at my front door. In walks the realtor and a girl who looked to be about 22 with her dog. Yes, she brought her dog in my house. Now this wouldn't matter to me (I love dogs!) except that it sent my dog - who was already upset to have strangers in the house - running around the house in a mad frenzy. She ran upstairs, jumped on the perfectly made bed, then back down the stairs - all while these people are trying to see the house and I'm trying to keep the baby happy and stay out of the way.
Who brings their dog to go look at houses? Did she think she was Paris Hilton? I just don't get it. And what realtor calls from the parking lot? How much sense does that make? Why even call at that point?
Needless to say, these are not the people who bought our house. The people who bought our house came in on a Friday evening when I was out of town and called the day before to set up an appointment like civilized human beings.

My favorite are the people who schedule an appointment and then cancel 15 minutes before or never show up.
Or the woman who called and cancelled en route to our house because she didn't realize how far away barrington was from dover.
The joys of home sales.
We had people come to the house and told the realtor that they loved the house but couldn't stand to look out the window into the neighbors yard.
When we sold the house we told our other neighbors and they asked who bought it. Well at that point we couldn't remember the buyers name. Our neighbors said they saw someone that they knew looking at the house but hoped it was not them because they were very annoying. Chrissy told them she didn't think it was them but come to find out it was the annoying family. Oh well! Annoying or not their money was good and besides, their not our neighbors.
Our neighbors have been asking about the buyer too. We don't know, we don't care. They are willing to pay, they own it.
