Day at the Zoo 2008

Today, my mom's group went to the zoo and spent the morning seeing animals up close and personal.

OBB enjoyed feeding the giraffes and even tried to pet them.

We were able to make it to see them feed the penguins. One of the penguins had a really long beak and they told us he was 29 years old.

Then there was the incident with the peacock. The peacock pictured below stood in our path for about 5 minutes with feathers all spread out. After looking at the peacock and taking in its beauty, I decided to try and walk past it, pushing OBB in his stroller. As I neared the peacock, it literally started vibrating. All of its feathers shook and it started charging me. I let out a shriek and started running and pushing the stroller to get past the attacking bird. Once I was far enough away, I stopped and caught my breath while my friends broke down laughing. It was quite a scene.

OBB's favorite part of the day was riding the carousels. Here he is riding the little version...

He really liked the big carousel and cried when it stopped and it was time to get off.

He looks like he is taking the big carousel very seriously.
