I have a bone to pick with the grape industry. This week, after completing my trip to the grocery store, I happened to look at my receipt. It's always interesting to me to see what the most expensive item was that I bought. Of course, it's usually meat or chicken; however, lately milk has been working its way up to the top of the list. Well this week, I was shocked to discover that the most expensive item I bought was grapes. Red seedless grapes to be specific. I paid $7.74 for a bag of grapes. Now it's not like I went and hand-picked my bunches of grapes, resulting in an amount of grapes far exceeding what a normal person would buy. I simply leaned over and grabbed a bag of grapes.

What is even more disturbing to me is that the grapes I purchased ended up costing me more than the shrimp I bought to make jambalaya. The shrimp was $7.51 for three-quarters of a lb. There's just something wrong with that.
So for now, I have a little cha-ching noise that rings in my head with every grape I eat. I don't even think there's 70 grapes in the bag so I paid more than 10 cents a grape. That is ridiculous.
