Morning in the Snow

Snow rarely comes to Richmond, so you have to understand that when it does happen, no matter how little or insignificant it may seem, it is cause for celebration and documentation.

Early this morning, at 6:45 a.m., OBB came down the hallway calling "snow!". We're not sure how he knew (all the blinds in his room are closed) but he knew and he was ready to head outside. So at 7:30 a.m., while the baby was still sleeping, I was following a 2 year old around the yard with a camera in one hand and a travel mug filled with coffee in the other.

Early morning adventure in the snow...

There's just something about looking out at your backyard, covered in perfect, untouched snow....and then dragging your wagon all over it.

Here's what our house looked like from the woods in our backyard...

And of course, we couldn't leave out EDD. She felt the need to lie down in the snow wherever we went. I don't understand how that could possibly feel good, but she seemed to like it.

My red-cheeked and red-nosed little boy...

We even built a snowman. Sure, we had to truck snow from the backyard to the front yard to pull this off, but it was a great excuse to use OBB's wagon.

And moments after taking a picture of the completed snowman, OBB felt the need to knock it down. Here is the snowman's demise, captured on film.

my thoughts:
1. you are an amazing momma for playing in the snow at 7:30am
2. EDD must be having hot flashes...
3. Boys will be boys. Sad that Frosty's life was so short.

Did it only snow in your back yard??

It only snowed a little in the front yard because of the tree cover and it melted fast. ALL the snow was gone by noon.
