The first night we ate at a restaurant called Daniel. I heard about it because it was one of a few restaurants that had received four stars in the New York Times. It was really something else. When we sat down at our table, they came walking over to us with a little foot stool. I thought to myself, "Is this because I'm pregnant and they want me to put my feet up?" But that wasn't it. The foot stool was for my PURSE. Yes, even my purse got its own seat in this restaurant. We think we saw Warren Buffet dining there too - he was really the only celebrity/incredibly rich guy we saw all weekend. Here's a picture of the dining room. You can check out Daniel at www.danielnyc.com/daniel/.

The next night we went to Gilt. This is a restaurant located in the New York Palace Hotel which is a neat-looking hotel (see below).

The restaurant is a long room and when you're sitting in it, it seems very red because of the way it's lit. There's a stairway up to the kitchen at one end and a fireplace with a painting over it at the other. Here's the view towards the kitchen...

And here's the portrait at the other end. You can check it out at www.giltnewyork.com.

The food here was amazing. As was the service. Following dinner, we went to see a show on Broadway. We saw Wicked which is about the backstory on The Wizard of Oz. It's about the Wicked Witch of the West and the Good Witch of the North and tells you how everyone ended up in the story including the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion. It was really good with fun costumes, great dancing and wonderful music. Here's the official site with more pictures...www.wickedthemusical.com

We had a fun weekend shopping at places like Barney's and this cool store called Century 21 that has designer clothes and shoes at great prices. I could have walked out of there with new shoes from Cole Haan, Kate Spade, Ralph Lauren and Michel Kors, but I restrained myself.
By Sunday night we were exhausted but we'd had a great time just being girls again!

What a wonderful treat!! I'm so glad you were able to get away and enjoy yourself!
Wicked is maybe my favorite musical EVER - so glad you got to see it! Megan and I went a year or so ago when we were in NYC and we've been singing the songs ever since...absolutely on the edge of the seat for "Defying Gravity" - fantastic!!
