It's About Giving
Well it is the season of giving and as it turns out, the neighbor's cats decided that I was deserving of something special this morning. I was out in my garage, trying to locate my chafing dish - don't even ask - we got it for a wedding present and here, almost five years into marriage, I'm using it for the first time. SO as I was leaving the garage, chafing dish in hand, I leaned back in the garage to hit the button and close the door when out of the corner of my eye, a bloody mess on the ground diverted my attention. It was a squirrel, laying spread eagle at the entrance to my garage, who had been given open heart surgery courtesy of one of the cats and was never closed up. I shrieked in what I thought was a loud tone, but no one came to my rescue. So I walked into the house exclaiming, "didn't you hear me screaming outside?" to my husband who was contentedly making coffee in the kitchen. "No dear, I didn't hear you scream", he said in a tone anticipating the drama to come. Then, as if a little lightbulb went off in his head, my WH says, "Oh sweetie! You were screaming! Are YOU ok?!?" with all the sarcasm you can imagine. SO my knight in business casual did come to my rescue by removing the carcass with a snow shovel (and enduring the dead squirrel smell while doing so). And already my Monday was off to a fabulous start.

The offending squirrel, now headless, reappeared this morning.
Unless it's another one! Maybe it's the cats' grotesque version of an Advent calendar!
I still say it is the cats' grim warning to the dog.
nice. a squirrel. thats big game for a cat. was it a gray or red squirrel?
Gray. If not for the furry tail, it would be a rat.
please tell me the advent calendar didn't bring it back a third time... OH disgusting!
