It is so hot outside. It's just ridiculous. And I think it's even hotter for me this summer than almost any other summer...simply because I have a toddler.
People without children, or with grown children can go to the grocery store, the cleaners, and the bank with relative ease. You pull in to the parking lot, get out of the car and walk in.
Not me. I pull in the parking lot, go around to the back of the car, lift out the 20lb stroller, open it up, go to the passenger side of the car, lift out my 15 lb purse and put it in the bottom of the stroller, go and open the back right door, lift out a 30 lb baby and put him in the stroller. Doing all of this several times a day in 95 degree heat (which feels like 105) will make you break a sweat in a hurry.
It's the kind of heat that makes you want to give up before you even get going. The kind of heat where you open your front door and feel like you just stuck your head in the oven. And I haven't even gotten to talking about how this kind of heat can make an otherwise mild-mannered baby downright crabby. You're hot and so is he.
SO I gave up. When I came out of the grocery store this morning at 10:30 a.m. and the car said 95, I decided to call it a day. OBB and I have spent the day at home, which has included OBB chasing the vacuum around the house, being told No! a thousand times and one very big meltdown which resulted in him having a little "alone time" in his crib so he could gather it up.
I'm ready for Fall.

Oh boy, I SOOO hear you! Multiply that 5 times, and there's my life right now! I don't do hot well, hence I live in New England. It's down right miserable right now. I avoid everything right now! Thank goodness for a fabulous husband to run my errands for me before and after work! Too bad I can't have alone time to gather myself! They just follow me!
I honestly don't know how you do it! :-)
Me either! Thankfully Arik is amazing helpful!
So when they are older, you pull into the parking lot, turn off the car and then wait for a stopping point in Mario Brothers or Nintendogs or whatever electronic device has their attention. As the car heats up, they are oblivious and don't break a sweat. People passing by are contemplating calling child protective services because it appears you are about to abandon your child in a 200 degree car. It doesn't matter how long you keep the car running, they always need "just one more minute" so they don't risk losing the all time high score or killing the new puppy they just "bought." Granted, she walks on her own and pushes the buggy in the store and helps get items on the list. However, she also asks for everything and has negotiating abilities that would bring Heads of State to their knees. Can't say I miss the stroller days! Hang in there, unfortunatley these days will go by very fast and you will actually wish for the 20lb stroller in which to strap them and move them around at your pace!
Thanks for letting me know what I have to look forward to!
