Powerless

It's been a day and a half since we've had power. It finally came on this afternoon, but it was a long time without power, water, heat, etc. Unfortunately, when the power goes, because we have a well, the water goes too. No water to wash dishes, make bottles, take a shower, go to the bathroom...you get the idea. For dinner last night, my WH met me and OBB at the mall and we walked around for a couple hours to kill time (who wants to sit in a cold, dark house?). As we arrived at home, we stepped out of our SUV Crossover (don't call it a minivan!) to hear the hum of generators all up and down our street. It sounded as though all of our neighbors were mowing their lawns at the same time. Clearly, these people had 20-plus years of experience on their side and they were ready. As the resident newbies, we were caught unprepared.

However, one of the best things about God is that He always shows you someone in a situation that is far worse than yours so that you stop feeling sorry for yourself. Enter the Akerberg family. At least I don't live in NH (where it's really cold right now compared to where I live) and at least I don't have a RIVER running through my front yard to such a degree that the National Guard has been called in. I am thankful for that.

The whole area looks like that! It is crazy!! There are multiple roads washed away, trees down and water everywhere up here.
