So yesterday, as we were visitng our new neighbors from the north (aka gagknee and family), I was enjoying the Sunday paper and stumbled across something. Now you might ask, why was I reading the Sunday paper at someone else's house? That would be because we don't get it at our house. I LOVE the Sunday paper. I love going through each section, making a big mess of coupons and flyers and oddball sections all over the floor - and this drives my husband nuts. So there is no Sunday paper to be found in my house. And as a result, when I saw the Sunday paper at gagknee's, I dove right in.
During my perusal of the travel section, I came across the "Top 7 things to do for Travel in "07". This article included things like "travel to Ethiopia" and "travel to Space"...neither of which appealed to me. But then I came acorss number 7, which was "take a Mancation". What is this?, I thought. Well, it is decribed as an opportunity for men to experience some adrenaline-pumping bonding...and it's one of the hottest new travel trends around.
But, I thought to myself, my husband has been going on a yearly mancation since I've known him. Isn't he a trend-setter!?!
So to all the ladies who read this blog and have been looking for a what to call the annual (yes, Trish, annual) ATV trip, here you go. They're going on their "mancation".

you're welcome to peruse our sunday paper any time you like.
I think it's time to put an end to this trend where it's cool to make men seem more feminine by putting "man" in front of a perfectly normal (and sometimes feminine) word. Mancation, Manpon, Manorexic, Mancake, Manceptionist, Manarrhea, etc..
What about a "Ladycation"??
That's what I'm saying!
clearly a "VAcation" is already a Ladycation - otherwise they would not have needed to think up a name for the man's version.
Big A- please concentrate on annoying your own wife.
