As soon as we arrived, we went for a little walk through my college, the College of Charleston. It was a beautiful sunny day and the kids ebjoyed seeing where I went to school. We followed this with a delicious lunch at Virginia's on King, where I enjoyed She Crab Soup and Fried Green Tomatoes and my WH had Shrimp and Grits.
Then we headed to my friend Stacey's house. The children loved it there, playing with her dogs, relaxing on her hammock, playing rounds of corn hole and getting to see horses!
We went to the barn where her daughter keeps her horse and they found a pony for the kids to groom and even ride! This was Whisper...who put up with us even though it was her dinner time.
And they wanted me to get on her too - this is what it looks like when a really tall person tries to ride a horse that is too small for them - your feet practically drag on the ground.
The next morning we stopped by Charleston Place Hotel on our way to breakfast.
We went for a long walk through the Market area and came upon a store called Kapla which sells building blocks. They had all kinds of creations around the store that they were sure to tell you were NOT glued together.
However, if you wanted to stay on the center carpet, you could build as much as you wanted - which of course we jumped on.
My WH started building a tower and didn't stop until he reach the ceiling.
After we went for a carriage ride, we followed it with a long walk around the city. We saw beautiful homes, lovely flowers and lots of goregeous gates.
Here we are on the steps of Two Meeting Street Inn.
That evening, my friend Stacey came and took the kids out for dinner so we could enjoy a fancy dinner celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary.
We went to the Charleston Grill in the Charleston Place Hotel and were treated like royalty. Such a delicious meal and fun night!
On our last morning there, we visited the Fire Museum which had all kinds of fire trucks and fun things for the kids to do, including making your own badge!
We had a great trip seeing old friends, roaming around Charleston and enjoying the southern cuisine!
