Mother's Milk

I've never posted anything about breastfeeding - at least I don't think I have. It's not something I feel the need to talk about. However, to give a brief history of my experience, it didn't work with OBB because he was in the NICU, but I pumped for him for 6 weeks until I went in for gallbladder surgery. At that point I decided that between a c-section scar and gallbladder incisions, I didn't need a pumping aparatus on me too...so I stopped. With OBG, she fed like a champ until about 8 weeks and then stopped, so I stopped too. I'm happier, she's happier, formula is working well for everyone. So there you go...my life as a breastfeeder in a nutshell.

I've never shared my opinions about breastfeeding before, but now it seems I don't have to because they have been completely encapsulated by this amazing blogger called DaMomma. While I don't always agree with her politically, she writes what she thinks about breastfeeding better than I ever could. If you want to check out her blog, it's at http://damomma.com. Here's what she writes: Breast is Best and other total lies

I pumped for a long 7 months with Ella, and the worst part of it was when I had to start supplementing with formula and my mother in law (who had 8 kids and not one of them ever got a bottle) said to me, "Why are you supplementing?" But it wasn't what was said...it was the look that accompanied it. I went straight into our bedroom and cried.

why do we worry so much about social norms and what others think. being a great parent is more than just following the accepted fads of the day. every mother needs to stop feeling guilty for their choices and parent with the intuition God bestowed on them.
